Summary
The one woman he wants is the one he cannot have.
Former foster kid Sebastian Grant has leveraged his intelligence and hard work to become a pediatric heart surgeon. But not even his career success can erase the void he's tried so hard to fill. Then he meets high school teacher Leah Montgomery and his fast-spinning world comes to a sudden stop. He falls hard, only to make a devastating discovery--Leah is the woman his best friend set his heart on months before.
Leah's a math prodigy who's only ever had one big dream--to earn her PhD. Raising her little brother put that dream on hold. Now that her brother will soon be college bound, she's not going to let anything stand in her way. Especially romance . . . which is far less dependable than algebra.
When Leah receives surprising results from the DNA test she submitted to a genealogy site, she solicits Sebastian's help. Together, they comb through hospital records to uncover the secrets of her history. The more powerfully they're drawn to each other, the more strongly Sebastian must resist, and the more Leah must admit that some things in life--like love--can't be explained with numbers.

My Review
LET IT BE ME is a story about two souls who through life's challenges have learned to trust in only themselves. Even God they've held at arms length, trying to control life themselves. It's a story of letting go and being vulnerable. It's about family, friendship, faith and love. Readers won't be able to resist falling in love with these characters and cheering for a happily-ever-after. Highly recommended!
I knew from the preview from the last book, Stay with Me, that I was going to love this book and I was right! It started off with Sebastian's car accident when he first meets Leah and I pretty much fell in love with him right there. Who can resist Jason Bourne references with plenty of humor and an instant connection amidst an accident? Not me. Leah took me a bit more to warm up to, but not much. She's pretty much sacrificed everything to raise her brother and fill in for negligent parents.
Both Sebastian and Leah have off-the-charts intelligence mixed with a sense of humility and good hearts. The way Sabastian cares for his patients and the way Leah cares for her brother and students melted my heart. They were also easy to relate to and had great chemistry between them, which made me jump into this story and read it all in one day (some sleep may have been lost).
I loved the family and friendship dynamics, the mystery Leah has to figure out, and the way Leah and Sebastian navigate their relationship (except when I wanted to shake one or the other of them). I also really appreciated their candidness. Leah is up front with Ben and Sebastian. Sebastian stays loyal to his friend and it puts him in a pretty tough spot, but he is still totally honest. Ben also has his own struggles with the situation and has to come to some of his own conclusions. It just endeared me more to them all. There were also great side characters. I especially had to laugh at Leah's brother who is all teen angst. Plus, the romance was definitely swoon-worthy and the way faith was worked through this story really resonated with me.
In the end, was it what I wished for? I simply adored this book! It hit all my spots with great characters, a moving story, faith weaved throughout, and a swoon-worthy romance. Highly recommended to fans of the author and genre! I can't wait for the next Misty River Romance!
