Summary

An introverted doctor, a vivacious artist, and an island full of geriatric matchmakers. What could go wrong?

It might be Winslow Island's annual Matchmaking Festival, but Tessa has more important things to worry about, like how to keep her mother's bed and breakfast in business. She definitely doesn't have time for an arrogant doctor with a sexy smirk.

Parker's life is as precise and planned as the surgeries he performs. He's on track for a career-making promotion - if he can improve his bedside manner. When his mother plans his father's seventieth birthday party for the same weekend as the Matchmaking Festival, Parker suspects he's in for a series of sneaky setups. He doesn't expect a fiery redhead to crash into him in a shower of glitter, wreaking havoc with his plans and his heart.
Tessa is the only woman brave enough to tame his arrogance, and Parker holds the key to saving her mother's business. Can they put aside their differences long enough to admit the attraction growing between them and get what they both need?

Or will a life-changing decision drive them further apart?

Join the residents of Winslow Island for a fun-filled, sweet romance - full of piggyback rides, scrumptious baked goods, and colorful characters guaranteed to make you come back for more.

My Review

FINDING HOME ON WINSLOW ISLAND is a story that will bring plenty of smiles and laughter between the perfect meet-cute at the beginning to the very last page when awkwardness and vulnerability still play a role until this couple finds their happily-ever-after. Highly recommended to sweet and clean romance readers who are looking for all the feels!

Oh my gosh! The meet-cute at the beginning of this story is so fabulous! It definitely made me laugh, and then I loved how that moment is referenced and replayed out in different ways throughout the story. Such a perfect plot point that worked marvelously well! That sets things up for the hero, Parker, who has terrible people skills, particularly for being a doctor, and Tessa who is fabulous with people, but seems to be a bit clumsy when Parker is around. They're at odds from the beginning, but as they come to know each other and see the vulnerabilities and goodness in each other, things change. Of course, between Parker's mom and other matchmakers on the island, it's only a matter of time. I really loved these characters! Everyone from Tessa's son, the rest of her family, Parker and his family, the crazy old ladies... just lots of people to love here.

There was plenty of heart in this story. I'm talking past rejection and hurt to a little boy, his mom, and to Parker. But also the complexities of family, promises, and dreams. There's mistakes, forgiveness, sacrifice. And there was the overall message of finding acceptance and home.

This is a new-to-me author. I didn't realize until after I finished this and went to see what other books she'd written that I found that this was her debut. I so appreciate the effort spent on the cover and editing for this book. It doesn't come off as self-published or a debut, so now I've got high expectations for the next book. Lol! I'm super excited for it too because it's going to be about Harry and Olivia, one of Parker's brothers and his very best friend. Their story started a bit in this book and I can't wait to find out how things turn out!

In the end, was it what I wished for? This was such an enjoyable story! Great characters, lots of heart with plenty of feels, small-town charm, family, humor, and sweet romance. I'll definitely be reading more from this author!

About the Author

Chrissy Elliot graduated from the University of Wollongong, Australia, with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and more books than she could count.

After growing up on the South Coast’s sandy shores, she jumped on a plane and settled in the lush green wilderness of the Pacific Northwest. Her new backyard inspired a life long dream to put pen to paper, and Winslow Island was born.

When she’s not scribbling sweet stories full of witty characters and mischievous matchmakers, Chrissy is navigating life as an expat, explaining what fairy floss is and trying to remember that orange-flavored chocolate is not a food group.

I love finding new authors and this one being a  debut... well, I'm very happy about giving this one a chance. Will you be adding it to your tbr?
