My Review
A HOPEFUL CHRISTMAS is a collection of four historical stories set around Christmastime full of hope and love. Fans of cozy, sweetly romantic and heartfelt stories will love this! Highly recommended!
LORD BLAKELY’S GIFT by Anneka R. Walker was about a young woman who runs into a gentleman that concludes in a bit of a mishap and the start of an attraction. Their parents are bitter enemies, but they don't have the same prejudices and find friendship and the possibility of more between them. It's a sweet story with themes of forgiveness and serving others at Christmastime.
A SEASON OF HOPE by Sian Ann Bessey was a story about a family who has come upon hard times and the childhood friend who comes home. Of course friendship is easily renewed, but the young lord finds the girl he was friends with years ago is now a charming young woman who has his heart. I've loved everything I've read from this author, and this story was no different. I loved the characters, the humor, the warmth of family and Christmas cheer, and the very delightful romance!
CHRISTMAS BY THE SEA by Carla Kelly is about a navy surgeon who comes home on leave for Christmas to find his home in a bit of an uproar and a special meeting that fulfills a Christmas wish. I would buy this book just for this story. It was that wonderful. The dialogue was perfect and it so easily tugged on my heart. I loved this family and especially the way the surgeon and his wife and children all interacted. There was so much humor and sweetness, but plenty of depth too, that all fit wonderfully in a few pages.
EXPECTATIONS AT CANTERWOOD by Krista Lynne Jensen has an adorable meet cute in the best of ways, but that gives quite an awkward start between the two love interests. It's about a girl who has been overlooked and misused, a returning soldier who doesn't want to soldier anymore, and how they find unexpected acceptance in each other. This was another story that was full of so much heart between the friendships and family, but also the acceptance and love that blooms. I loved every minute!
In the end, was it what I wished for? I loved all of these and was a bit sad when I turned the last page. Perfect for Christmastime or really any time you need some stories to uplift, make you laugh and cry, and of course sigh with each happily-ever-after ending. I can't recommend this enough!
