My Review
HOW TO QUIT YOUR CRUSH is a sweet, heartfelt, swoon-worthy romance. The characters are endearing and easy to like, with plenty of charming banter, and a story that pulls on the reader's emotions. A delightfully entertaining read from beginning to end!
These characters were really great! I loved Anthony! Oh, my word! This boy! He made me laugh so much! He was all charm and bad-boy swagger (the innuendo and lines that came out of his mouth!) mixed with this good heart and a serious addiction to Mai. He also had some challenges that he was in denial about and needed to work through. Then there was Mai. The poor girl had issues. I really wanted to shake her a few times to force her to be honest with herself, her parents, and Anthony. I totally understood how she felt and her choices, but it was painful to witness. I also really liked Josie and some of the other characters and felt the author did a good job with them all.
I would say that this book was cute and fun, and it was, but it was also so much more. The romance was just plain delightful, with plenty of fabulous banter and chemistry. Then there were some more serious aspects of this story, parts that really tugged on my heart. I enjoyed how the author balanced all these different emotions... places that were light with humor and romance, and others that were heavier. There were also meaningful moments between family members, friends, and then Mai and Anthony.
I could have done without the swearing and suggestive content, but that would be my only complaint.
In the end, was it what I wished for? If you're looking for a story that is heartwarming, will make you laugh and swoon, and has great characters, I'd recommend this one. It left me with a smile and that great happily-ever-after feeling.
Content: Some profanity and swearing (quite a few s-words), and innuendo/suggestive comments, but nothing descriptive.
