A romance about coming into your own... Party Favors by Sariah Wilson (Review) #newbooks #bookx #romancebooks #cleanreads @sariahwilson @AmazonPub

I've been a fan of this author since reading Starstruck years ago. This newest release from her has a bit of the Royals of Monterra weaved through (I've read that series as well). Read my review below...

Summary

For a party planner in awe of the royals, daydreams fit for a queen might come true in a captivating romantic comedy by Sariah Wilson, the USA Today bestselling author of The Hollywood Jinx.

For as long as she can remember, Everly Aprile has been obsessed with the Monterran royals, especially Queen Kat: elegant, self-possessed, and living a fairy-tale romance. As for Everly, her career as an event planner has stalled―and so has her love life. Then a wealthy new client wants a sweet-sixteen party that’s fit for an American princess. Practicing her “What Would Kat Do” mantra, Everly offers to bring it to life by immersing herself in everything Monterra.

Call it intervento divino when she meets dizzyingly handsome and charismatic Max Colby, who’s relocated stateside from the Monterran kingdom of her dreams. If Everly promises to be his New York City guide, he’ll teach her the customs and culture of Monterra so her party gets a boost of authenticity. Deal. As their friendship grows, Everly starts falling―but for what? Another unattainable obsession? Max is such a dreamboat that surely he sees her as just a friend.

Her royal to-do list is in order. She’s revamping her life and learning to believe in herself. Maybe, just maybe, there’s a chance for fate to bring Everly her happily ever after after all.

My Review

PARTY FAVORS is about a woman trying to find her place in her career, life, and hopefully find love. It's also about a guy who wants to step up and fill that opening. It's about finding yourself, second chances, and figuring out what's worth fighting for. There's plenty of humor and chemistry for romcom readers for a sweet and entertaining read!

I liked these characters from the start. Everly is so relatable, vulnerable and lovable, which also makes her a bit frustrating when she so clearly doesn't believe in herself or believe she's worthy of dating someone who is amazing. She comes around, but it takes a moment. She's also really good at what she does and has a huge heart. Max is charm personified. He fits Everly's description of her perfect man, except she thinks he's much too good for her, so she friend-zones him to avoid being disappointed. Max is loyal, smart, charismatic, kind and has the best dog. He does have some issues and things he's not completely truthful about. The romance slowly builds, but the chemistry and humor are there from the beginning and quite tangible. I also liked the plot overall. I wasn't sure about the surprise and how things get reconciled. It's probably the only part of the story I didn't like. I would have wanted things to be worked through differently. As expected, there is a sweet happily-ever-after in the end.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This was a fun read with great characters, an adorable dog, a few twists, and a sweet romance. Fans of the author and genre will enjoy this one!
