THE CLOVERTON CHARADE is a story about a woman trying to build her own place in the world, a man who is trying to save his business, and a family trying to navigate loss and new beginnings through their collected antiquities. It's about the separation of the classes, societal expectations, forgiveness, family and love. There is a bit of a mystery to solve as well. Recommended to fans of the author and genre!

I loved these characters from the start while being pulled into this intriguing plot in the world of antiquities. Olivia has been pushed back from what she should be doing after her father's death and her uncle taking over. As she's a woman, she's just not given the same opportunities or respect. She wants to prove herself and build her reputation so that she can continue working in antiquities. She's confident, stubborn, intelligent, and sweet. Lucas is trying to save his family's antiquity business after the loss of his dad. He has an opportunity to do just that. He's congenial, honest, skilled and intelligent. Both of their families have a history together, so they already have a childhood friendship from years earlier. It was fun to see these two run into each other at the same house party. They had to navigate what they were trying to accomplish, each other, and then all the family and guests who didn't know all they were doing. I also liked how the mystery slowly crept into the story. The suspense starts in a fairly small way and then slowly grows to a climax. I also thought the romance was sweet and resolved nicely. It was a pretty strong aspect of the story, but still an enjoyable one.
In the end, was it what I wished for? This was another enjoyable read from this author. Likable characters, an engaging plot and a sweet romance made for a delightful read. I'm looking forward to this author's next release!
